Smith Point Hawk Watch - Houston Bird Week

09/25/2021 08:30 AM - 10:30 AM CT

Location

Smith Point Hawk Watch
Candy Abshier Wildlife Management Area
Port Arthur, TX 77640

Description

Join the Galveston County Audubon Group on a field trip to GCBO's Smith Point Hawk Watch! We will meet at the Hawk Watch Tower at 8:30 AM and stay there for 1-2 hours depending on hawk migration. Other migrants will be flying over, especially Ruby-throated Hummingbirds who come to the feeders at the tower. Bring snacks, water, mosquito spray and lunch. On the way back, participants may join Greg Whittaker or Alice Anne O'Donell for further birding. Alice Anne will go from the Hawk Watch Tower to Rollover Pass and then Bolivar Flats. Greg will take those who are interested to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge first and make other stops on Bolivar depending on birds, interest and time.

We will be following current safety CDC Covid protocols. Safe distancing and masks recommended but not required outdoors. This could change so please bring a mask should they become required. The Hawk Watch Tower does not have a required mask sign at the present time.
