It’s Bird Week! So grab your bike and binos and join Kelsey Baird for an easy tour along the lower White Oak Bayou to the new Confluence mural and back (about five miles total). We will stick together as a group and keep an eye out for any birds we might see along the way. eBird lists encouraged!

All participants must have a functional bike helmet and a bicycle. We will meet near a Houston BCycle station for those interested in renting a bike, and the first 30 minutes of your ride are free! (Thank you to Houston BCycle for their partnership.) Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and a water bottle.

Weather Contingency Plan: Kelsey will make the call on whether we need to delay or cancel the bike tour by 7:30am on the day of the event at the latest.

Confluence is a public art installation along the Bayou Greenway trail at the confluence of White Oak and Buffalo Bayous. The 223-foot mural, created by artist Jane Kim, founder of Ink Dwell Studio, showcases the birds that call Houston's bayous home. Confluence is commissioned by Houston Parks Board and hosted in collaboration with Buffalo Bayou Partnership. Houston Audubon is pleased to provide ornithological expertise and collaborate on programming and promotion of the mural. Learn more about Confluence here.

Houston Bird Week, from September 18-25, is a celebration of the important role Houston plays in the lives of billions of resident and migratory birds. Houston Audubon and local conservation partners coordinate a week of in-person and virtual events centered around our region's birds and wildlife - from birding and volunteer opportunities to trivia and movie nights, there is something for all!
