Greetings!
Spring is here, bringing the verdant promise of renewal and growth. This season is very special to us (Georgia and Stu), both because of its innate beauty and also because we have made many great memories together in the spring. Many of you know that next Saturday, April 18, we will create a new memory when we get married.
We began dating in the spring of 2022, and over the past four years, we've fallen in love and established some budding "family traditions" that are important to us.
One of those traditions is our annual Birdathon effort. Birdathon has been an annual anchor in our relationship, where we spend a day together witnessing the awesomeness of the natural world, reflecting on the past year, and raising funds for one of our favorite causes.
And, thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm for our efforts, we have raised $17,485 together. We are really proud of that, and grateful for your support.
Usually, we push hard for your support with lots of emails and communications, including our famous live play-by-play updates and photos as the day progresses. This year, we are keeping things simple and more contemplative.
So, this coming Monday, April 13th, the first day of our "wedding week," we will spend the day together once again, surrounded by nature, before the week's festivities begin.
If you contribute this year, we will send one summary email after the effort, including our reflections from the day, and some photos.
We will return in full force next year. In the meantime, we are sending love, good vibes, and deep appreciation for all you mean to us. We are excited for all that is to come!
Love,
Better Late Than Feathers
(Georgia & Stu)
Birdathon is Houston Audubon’s signature spring fundraising event—a "walk-a-thon" for birders. Participants form teams to identify as many bird species as possible within a 24-hour period between April 11 and May 11. It is a high-energy celebration of spring migration that combines community science with a mission to raise $75,000 for local conservation.
By donating, you aren’t just helping us count birds—you are helping to save them.
