This year, on Earth Day, April 22, 2026, as part of the Rice Owls Team, I am fundraising for Houston Audubon. We will try to identify as many bird species as possible between dawn and dusk from one spot on the Rice University campus in Houston. Our goal is to support bird conservation and raise awareness of the nature around us. If you live in the Houston area, come join us anytime on the 22nd at the Johnson Owl deck. Birdathon is Houston Audubon’s signature spring fundraising event—a "walk-a-thon" for birders. Participants form teams to identify as many bird species as possible within a 24-hour period between April 11 and May 11. It is a high-energy celebration of spring migration that combines community science with a mission to raise $75,000 for local conservation.
