Another year, another chance to witness the marvel of Gulf Coast bird migration! Coastal Staff are once again excited to be fielding a team focused on the species richness the Northern Gulf of Mexico has to offer. Our theme this year is sticking within Galveston County. On April 27th, we're hoping to break the current Galveston County Big Day record of 187. From League City, to Texas City, to Port Bolivar, to High Island, we'll be exploring Texas' birdiest county (by land-area)!

ABOUT Birdathon 2026

Birdathon is Houston Audubon’s signature spring fundraising event—a "walk-a-thon" for birders. Participants form teams to identify as many bird species as possible within a 24-hour period between April 11 and May 11. It is a high-energy celebration of spring migration that combines community science with a mission to raise $75,000 for local conservation.

By donating, you aren’t just helping us count birds—you are helping to save them.
