Team "Wingin’ It!" Birds the Bolivar Peninsula!🏝️🔭
From the world-famous woods of High Island to the salt marshes of Bolivar Flats, Team Wingin’ It! is hitting the road for Birdathon 2026!
On Friday, May 1st, our staff team is taking migrating to Houston Audubon’s stunning coastal sanctuaries to see as many bird species as we can in one day. We plan to start our day at ELMNS, then journey to Galveston/Bolivar and up to High Island, birding along the way. (Remember folks: be responsible and pull completely off the roads. Drive slow in our sanctuary parking lots, we've already had a casualty.)
Houston Audubon's sanctuaries aren't just beautiful—they're critical rest stops for millions of birds traveling across the Gulf of Mexico. When they arrive exhausted on our shores, they need the habitat that you can help us maintain.

ABOUT Birdathon 2026
Birdathon is Houston Audubon’s signature spring fundraising event—a "walk-a-thon" for birders. Participants form teams to identify as many bird species as possible within a 24-hour period between April 11 and May 11. It is a high-energy celebration of spring migration that combines community science with a mission to raise $75,000 for local conservation.
